What's the difference between pitch guidelines and pitch requests?

Pitch guidelines are the parent set of instructions that apply to all pitches, while pitch requests are a one-time call for ideas.

Pitch guidelines should ask freelancers to include the following information in their pitches:

Title
Sample lede, or a grabby introduction that teases the story
One- or two-paragraph overview of what the story will cover and how, and why it's relevant
Proposed sources (primary and/or secondary)
Relevant links that freelancers may use to inform the final product
Turnaround expectations (in business days)
